In October 2021, Fraser Coast Mates is teaming up with the Mental Awareness Foundation to take part in the annual Walk For Awareness.
Walk for Awareness is an event that involves bringing people together in a friendly and safe environment where issues of mental health can be discussed openly with friends, family and supportive strangers. We believe the matters surrounding suicide should be discussed, not hidden.
While the Walk For Awareness is held in person in Brisbane, Queensland, this year the event will also take place virtually from anywhere in Australia. Fraser Coast Mates is calling on all Fraser Coast locals to join our team and raise funds towards mental health awareness with mates.
The event will take place at the Seafront Oval in Hervey Bay on Sunday, October 10. Check-in will be from 7:30am with the walk starting at 8:30am.
It’s important to note that all funds raised through the Fraser Coast Mates team will be spent directly within the local community – going straight towards the costs of a counsellor to assist our mates in need when they are struggling.
